 High School Football on T.V.
One commercial television companybroadcast the matches of the Inter High School Football Tournament on their nation-wide network, contributing ten thousand U.S. dollars to the Japanese Football Association.
Official sources of the television company gave two reasons to explain why they had developed an interst in football. One reason was that football seemed to be a useful sport for the young and the other thatfootball was believed to be worth future investment, since it was sure to become one of the most popular sports in Japan as well as in most other parts of the world.

 Football in the Snow
On January 5th, 1971, the matches of the Inter High School Championship were played on a snow covered round at Nishinomiya, near Osaka in Western Japan. This was the first time in the fifty-years history of the Championship, that the matches had been played in the snow. In the northern parts of Japan it is usual for the grounds to be covered with snow in winter and therefore, Championship match never take place during the winter season. In Kansai, however, it is very strange to see football played in the snow.

On New Year's Day of 1972, the torch will be carried by runners from the airport to the National Stadium, where the Final of the Emperor's Cup will, be taking place at the time. The scene of the torch arriving at the stadium during the football match will be televised to all parts of Japan. Embarrassment
The Japanese Football Association was embarrassed when it received an invitation from Korea to participate in the first President's Cup tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Seoul next May. However, the domestic league season in Japan will be under way at that time, so the Association will be unable to accept the Korean invitation.
A Japanese official said that Asian football is presured by too many cup competitions in the different countries.
Malaysia has its annual Merdeka Tournament, to which most Asian countries are invited, in August, while Thailand holds its equivalent ― the King’s Cup ― in November and ?the lndonesians yet another in Octber. This ycar,Korea and the Philippines have planned a new International Cup tournament for Asian countries and clearly, it is impossible to accept all these invitations.
