Yanmar won the match by the score of 3-1and promoted to the top of the league table. As soon as the game was timed up, "many young boys rushed into the playing field and surrounded Kamamoto applauding his great performance.
On the following Sunday, Kamamoto added another one goal in the league match against Towa Fudosan. This was his 16th goal in this season to tie with the record number of goals which one player scored in one season. Kamamoto himself made the record four years ago getting 16 goals in 14 matches. (Until 1972 the league composed with 8 teams and so one team played 14 matches in one season. Now the league composed with 10 teams in one division, so one team play 18 matches in one season)
In other words, Kamamoto got the same number of goals in 12 matches remaining six matches to be played in the season, so that it seems certainly sure that he will make the new record of individual goals in one season.
Kamamoto has been the most famous and telented striker in Japanese football in the past twelve years. He had been the leading goal scorer of the University league in the successive four years when he had been a student of Waseda University. After graduating the University, he entered Yanmar Diesel of Osaka and appeared in 109 league matches in 8 years until he completed his 100 goals. Besides this, he scored more than 130 goals for Japanese national side and 40 goals for Yanmar in the Cup or other matches. In 1968 he became the leading scorer of the Olympic football tournament in Mexico. In the Japanese Soccer League he was the leading goalscorer in 1968, 1970and 1971. It is sure that he will be also the leading goalscorer in this season for the fourth time in eight seasons.
Kamamoto was suffered by his leg's injury and could not make any remarkable activities in the second half of the last season. However he showed the complete recovery in this season. He looks better than previous year in his playing form and style. He is now thirty years old. He told the press that he shall play football at least until the year of the Olympic Games in Montreal 1976.
